Damage to Greens
Members are due a reason for the Greens being closed in recent days/weeks and the photo will illustrate the problem. The water table is very high due to the wet weather we have been experiencing in the past month with the result that the greens are still very soft and there has not been enough continuous hot weather to harden them up.
Yesterday we opened the Orchard Green for afternoon play and without pointing fingers at those of you who took advantage of this time to play or practice the end result is that every rink has had divots taken out of the green (see photo). Obviously this cannot be allowed to continue and so the Greens will be inspected each morning as normal and a decision made as to whether they are playable or not. If it is the latter decision then you will understand the background to making it.
We ask for your patience.
