Conditions of Entry and Play

  1. All entrants must be the current National Singles Champion as at 31st March 2006 and must be an affiliated member of the entering National Authority.
  2. If the current National Champion is not available then the country will not have an entry.
  3. The Intent to Enter Form must be received by World Bowls from the National Authority by 20th March 2006.
  4. Confirmation of the name of the entrant must be received by World Bowls, from the National Authority, by 20th May 2006 along with player profile.
  5. The dates of play for the event are provisionally set for 25th November– 2nd December 2006 inclusive (dependant on size of entry), with the Official arrival date set as 23 November 2006 and Official departure date set as 3 December 2006. Any competitor wishing to arrive before the Official arrival date or depart after the Official departure date will be responsible for making such accommodation and travel arrangements relating thereto, and which are outside the Official accommodation and internal transfer arrangements. Exact dates of the competition will be confirmed as soon as possible.
  6. One Official practice day will be scheduled prior to the commencement of the event.
  7. The competition will be played using the sets play format and in two sections, randomly drawn, 2/3 rounds per day (dependent of number of entries) unless inclement weather conditions prevail.
  8. The top four from each section will go forward to play Quarter Finals, then Semi Finals and Finals.
  9. Should there be a high entry for the event it may prove necessary to play in four sections, and hence the top two in each section will then proceed to the Quarter Finals, then Semi-Finals and Finals.
  10. All bowls must bear a current legible WBB or WB stamp i.e. dated 2006 or later.
  11. The Jury of Appeal (appointed by World Bowls) shall decide all disputes.
  12. Any points not covered in the Conditions of Play will be ruled upon by the Jury of Appeal.
  13. Players depart the day following the completion of the event.
  14. World Bowls and Bowls New Zealand will be responsible for players’ accommodation, breakfast and lunch from the official day of arrival until the morning of the official departure day after completion of the event. Players will be responsible for providing their own evening meal.

    Partners/relatives/friends/manager/official etc sharing a room with a player will be responsible for settling their equal share of the accommodation costs directly with Bowls NZ accommodation agent, Southern World New Zealand, confirming such settlement to Chief Executive, World Bowls.

    It must be emphasised that National Authorities electing to send Managers or other officials to attend this event are liable for all costs relating thereto.
  15. The entering National Authorities or the entrant shall be responsible for the cost of return flights or other form of transport to Christchurch, New Zealand.
  16. Players will be required to attend official receptions/functions as directed by World Bowls.
  17. Players are expected to be available for interview by the media as and when required.
  18. Dress as approved by the competitor’s National Authority. Players will be required to bring with them to the event, their National Flag and a copy on CD of their National Anthem.
  19. National Authorities must ensure that all competitors are aware that drug testing is liable to take place during this event and they must ensure that all competitors are fully aware of and compliant with all requirements of the World Bowls World Anti Doping Agency compliant Anti Doping Regulations.
  20. World Bowls shall be entitled to amend these Conditions as considered necessary.
