Nominated
for SPARC
Award
The World Bowls 2008 event has been nominated for an Event Excellence Award handed out by
SPARC to an organisation which has displayed best practice in the delivery of an event.

Winners will be announced on 27th April.

Jo Finishes
with a win
Jo Edwards has won the World Cup final held at Warilla. The final score was 7-2 3-9 2-1.
Genevieve Baildon won the Women's Junior World Cup.  Jamie Hill was knocked out in the quarter
finals while
Shannon McIlroy finished second in the Junior Mens competition.

be held on 23-25 January 2009. With an increased prize package of $10,000 the competition has
attracted an excellent array of bowling talent from New Zealand and Australia.

of the Year
Jo was the winner of the Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year award at the Sir Richard Hadlee Awards
evening held last Friday.
Gary Lawson was the other Sportsperson of the Year and he also won the
overall Sports Personality award.
