Asia Pacific Championship 2007

The first Pacific Bowls Championships was held in Australia in 1985.

Subsequently the event has been held every second year and as countries like Thailand, India, Brunei, Philippines and Malaysia have taken up the sport, so the tournament has changed from the Pacific to the Asia Pacific Bowls Championships.

Following the inaugural event at Tweed Heads Bowling Club in 1985, the Championships were played in Papua New Guinea in 1987, Fiji in 1989, Hong Kong China in 1991, Canada in 1993, New Zealand in 1995, Australia in 1997, Malaysia in 1999 and Australia in 2001, 2003 and 2005.

The 2007 Asia Pacific Bowls Championships will be held in Christchurch, New Zealand from January 13th to January 21st 2007 at the Burnside Bowling Club (HQ) and the Fendalton Bowling Club.

Over the years the event has been dominated by Australia and New Zealand but this domination has been loosened considerably in recent tournaments as shown in the Overall Country Positions in 2003 and 2005.
