The Burnside Way
|
Once again it is a credit to the Burnside Club and the Burnside Members regarding the manner in which the Bowls New Zealand Challenge Trophy was conducted over the past three days.
- Bowls New Zealand are very appreciative of the facilities and the professional
- Immaculate greens - once again the positive talking point of the players,
a credit to the Glen Miller and green keeping team.
- John Reese and his early morning line marking team - 7 am start
- Ken Haworth / Barry Bunting and the many barmen .
- The ladies looking after lunches and morning teas.
- AJ and his results and photos.
- Bill Fowlie and his usual professional support.
- Club members who made the visitors feel welcome.
- The 46 (YES - 46) club members who gave time on Sunday to mark.
This is how it is done the Burnside way.

National Secondary School Championship
|
Our young bowler Tayla Bruce continues on her winning ways having won 8 games and one draw in the lead up to the semi finals on Tuesday at 10:30 am. The final will be played at 12:30pm. Games will be played at Papanui Club in Sawyers Arms Road.
This is a quote from the Bowls New Zealand website ... The girl's singles was all about young, local high-roller Tayla Bruce, 16, who blazed through her section and into championship post-section play alongside Nicole Toomey (St Mary's College), Sarah Davidson (Roxburgh Area School) and Holly McIlroy (Manurewa High School) – younger sister of NZ representative Shannon McIlroy. Paige Richmond (Dunstan High School) and Rosie Tate (Tawa College) complete the championship section.
Tayla finished with a bronze placing. A great result. Well done.
